Cosmopolitan Fulford!

As some of you may know, Jill Thomas, co-owner of the Rocksalt Restaurant with her husband Stanley, is also my big sister.  We share not only a keen entrepreneurial spirit, but also a serious love of travel.   Both of these traits have shaped our lives and our businesses.  Since the Rocksalt happens to be just a hop, skip and a jump (over a puddle or two this time of year) from Stuff & Nonsense, this fall we’ve teamed up to give you a taste of the world’s flavours and artisan markets without leaving Salt Spring.

All fall & winter, down at the Rocksalt, Jill is offering Global Curries night on Tuesdays and Authentic Mexican Fiesta night on Thursdays.  You can read more about their global flavours menus on the Rocksalt Restaurant website.

At Stuff & Nonsense in October we’re offering 20% off all of our one of a kind Thai handbags, wallets and travel pouches made with beautifully detailed Thai Hill Tribe textiles and the most buttery soft leather, a feast for your eyes and fingers.  And in November you can save 20% off any scarf or shawl from India.  Our last trip to India, we found an incredible selection including boiled wool, embroidered wool, silk & wool, bouncy wool and more. Now you can be stylish and warm for less!

And don’t miss out on our COSMOPOLITAN FULFORD CONTEST. One lucky winner each month will win a $50 shopping spree at Stuff & Nonsense PLUS dinner for 2 at Rocksalt and an international food cooking lesson with the Rocksalt Chefs!

TO ENTER, simply write on the Stuff & Nonsense or Rocksalt Facebook Fanpage walls and mention the contest (or write on both to double your chances).  Not much of a Facebooker?  You can still enter by filling out a ballot on site at Stuff & Nonsense or Rocksalt (or both). You may enter once at each site. That’s four chances to win if you enter each way!  Finally you can send either of us an email to enter.  Just use “Cosmopolitan Fulford Contest” in your subject header.

Now then, come on down to Fulford to sample the world!  You’ll be glad you made the trip!

Here’s beautiful Filippa showing off one of our Thai leather computer bags, and a boiled wool scarf from India. She’s wearing an April Cornell silk dress, yoga jeans and a babazuzu recycled wool hat (also now in store!).

Welcome to the Stuff & Nonsense Blog!

Since we’re launching this blog on Thanksgiving Weekend, I thought I’d take this opportunity to give thanks to a few folks who helped make it possible.  Thanks to Michele Macdonald for her savvy and endless graphic design talent, to Shari Macdonald for her always enthusiastic and beautiful photography and to Dean for putting it all together and making it all work!
