It must be Spring. The sun is shining (in fact it did for a whole day a couple of days ago!) and the Gumboot Gala is just two sleeps away. Always a fantastic kick off (in gumboots of course) to the market season on Salt Spring, the Gumboot Gala is just one of those feel good, feet stomping community events that shouldn’t be missed. What do you wear to the Gala? I like to bust out a swishy fancy silky skirt with my gumboots!

Where does the time fly? Christmas, check. New Year’s, check. Trip to India to buy beautiful things, check. Spring? Well according the calendar it’s coming soon, but I’m holding out for evidence (in temperature, singing frogs, chirping birds and blooming flowers). Evidence is apparent in the store, however: new springy clothes have already started arriving along with the cheerful new table & kitchen linen by April Cornell. All of our Thailand finds from our fall trip are also in store waiting to add colour and cheer to these grey days.
Speaking of colour and cheer, today I finally dropped off our donations from our Holiday Toy Drive to the Salt Spring Island Family Place for their toy lending library. Thanks to some very generous Stuff & Nonsense shoppers, the lending library got a much needed spring spruce up. One of the Melissa & Doug floor puzzles got scooped out of the box upon delivery and was put straight to use. Thank you again to all of you who donated. We hope to make this a yearly tradition.
